By Nature is a home-based nut and dried fruit business started by Peter Owen as a result of being disappointed by the over-priced, over-processed, poor-quality, products available in the supermarkets.
Peter strives to source the very best available organic or at least preservative-free products fromsmall, local, South African producers that follow ethical principles and his small family-team pack the raw nuts, dried fruit, and other dried goods such as seeds, beans and grains. By Nature also stocks a local certified organic honey.
The products can be found atall the good farmers markets in the Western Cape as well as selected specialized deli’s and health shops.
By Nature is rapidly gaining a reputation as the supplier of the freshest nuts and the largest range of preservative-free dried fruit in Cape Town.

Classic Marmalade
CLASSIC MARMALADE has become, over the last four years, synonymous with quality marmalades, preserves and jams. Just ask any one of our returning customers! Clare believes in using nothing but the best quality fruit; sometimes sourced from the gardens of friends, other times from wholesalers around the province. The wares we offer are uncontaminated by preservatives or additives of any sort. They are all made from purely natural products (we consider good Scottish whisky to be a natural product!).
Pop by our table for a visit and taste some interesting flavours. We have a varying range that changes with the seasons. If it's a citrus fruit, then Clare has turned it into a marmalade.

Cold Gold is home made ice cream, sorbets and gelato's made according to artisan methods using only the best quality seasonal ingredients and a lot of love.

Cure Charcuterie
I’m out to cure the world, one succulent free range porker at a time. To this end I’ve established a home based artisanal charcuterie. Here I process delicious and healthy cured meats from cuts that I personally source from ethically principled, small local farmers who rear natural and happy free range pigs, ducks and game.
At the market I offer a large selection of dry cured and delicately wood smoked back, neck and streaky bacons in both small and large packs. I also make coppa, pancetta, bresaola and a range of choice salamis.
All my products are completely antibiotic and hormone free and as no brine is added you are getting 100% pure meat.

Dirk Bakes Bread
There was a time when bread was made the time-honoured way of slow fermenting with natural sourdough yeast to unlock the full nutritional and taste potential of the grain and baked in a wood-fired stone oven. Today's fast-paced existence has led to the extreme deterioration of bread quality with the use of highly processed flours, unnecessary additives, poor technique and the need to mass produce.
My mission is to bring back the traditional artisan methods, using only the best organic ingredients and stone-ground flours to create bread the way it was meant to be - authentic.
For the benefit of health, I even steer clear of using white flours where I can and my market breads contain plenty of organic seed products for additional fiber and nutrition.
Come and taste bread the way it was made centuries ago; with time and love.

Hamachi Zushi
We offer a deliciously fresh product that uses the abundance of local and existing sushi ingredients in South Africa, presented in an original style. In Japan, sushi is as much about aesthetics as it is a tasty meal and we try to bring some of this creativity through into the sushi that we make.
We stick to using fresh local fish, so each weekend's fare will vary depending on what the Cape has to offer. Most of the time we use a selection of Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail (Hamachi), Cape Salmon, Kabbeljou and many more!
Yellowtail is a superb and readily available fish in Cape Town and with its smooth and buttery texture is great for both sushi and sashimi. It is also preferred by some sushi connoisseurs to tuna and therefore forms the backbone to our venture.

Simply Wholesome was started by Marcelle in August 2009 from very humble but significant beginnings. In January 2008 Marcelle was diagnosed with colon cancer. The chemotherapy changed her life and as a cancer survivor in remission for 3 years now, she became totally committed to giving her family and herself the healthiest diet possible, cutting out and eliminating all chemical additives, growth hormones, brine injections and antibiotics.
